(Once we saw the design, we asked the designer if she would be interested in preparing the films like back in the '80s with a DIY twist. She said Yes!
3 of 4 layers were cut out by hand from RUBYLITH red masking film.
It was originally invented for use in the electronic industry but, over time, was taken over by the graphic art industry.
It wasn't easy for her in the beginning, but it worked very well, and I think we achieved an authentic effect with all the nice mistakes we normally avoid in everyday jobs but which really suited the design here. The typography, graphics from old cinema leaflets, overlap – two different blacks that nicely overlap and make extra black – all the misprints in one project. It was just a small touch, but we we're really happy with it. Of course, all the films could have been printed normally, but we’re tired of the usual sometimes…:)
